College Access Partnership's college counseling services offer support through every step of the college admission process. We offer support in accessing and successfully completing applications, meeting deadlines and pursuing financial assistance. We work with students and families to understand the cost of attending each school and how to fund that cost in a way that is appropriate for the family (i.e. understanding loan debt; seeking grants).
We recognize the importance of college access in pursuing one’s career goals. Thus, college counseling happens in the context of a larger mentoring program in which regular meetings with students are used to explore each participant’s interests and affinities and the steps required to reach their career goals. This process can begin as early as middle school, when important course selection and extracurricular activity decisions are made, and extends beyond college as students prepare their résumés and venture onto their desired career path.
Test Prep and Tutoring
Most colleges and universities require standardized test scores from their applicants. We utilize a proven method of test preparation that enables students to succeed on all standardized tests. Test prep is conducted via one-to-one tutoring sessions, small group classes and online instruction. Additionally, we conduct formal academic assessments of students to identify areas of weakness and offers tutoring services to address those areas. Tutoring is offered on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. The goal is to make sure each participant is academically prepared for college.
College Access Partnership offers small grants to participating families who demonstrate need.
